Kes Spearguns have been in production since 1978 catering soley for the serious Australian and International free diving spearfisherman who requires a specific speargun for their individual spearfishing needs, whether its competition, Bluewater hunting or general fish gathering - Jew, Kingfish, Snapper, Bream etc:

hand crafted spearguns

Kes spearguns are the only fully hand crafted, custom built spearguns commercially available - containing No plastic components (handles, butts etc:).

Kes Spearguns specialise in two main styles of spearguns- The conventional rear handle design and the mid handle design with the option of either the open track or enclosed delrin track.

click for more info"One thing I find with all spearfishermen is they all have individual preferences to speargun design, and that is what I have been catering for since I started manufacturing spearguns", says Peter Kesby.

Kes Spearguns are totally hand crafted in Australia being of timber laminated construciton using Australian timber which allows for more streamlining. The laminated stock reduces timber bulk without a loss of rigidity. Kes Spearguns are also "finished" with a 2 part penetration epoxy that gives extra strength and a hard wearing finish.

The handles are hand sculptured from timber to give a better feel and a more sure grip-finished with a textured coating.
Kes Spearguns use a full stainless steel mechanism designed for long trouble free usage. A spring stainless shaft with the flopper fitted to the shaft to prevent fish spinning the head off and a hardened point that screws on to allow easy repacements if damaged or blunt.
2 or 3 - 16mm (5/8") rubbers with kevlar bridles, I find are most effective and ample for maximum range and accuracy.
400lb jinki attaches the shaft to the speargun with a bungie and snap swivel for ease of loading or changing of spear if required. Or can be set up with a breakaway rig.

click for more infoThe design of Kes Spearguns have the spear supported all the way from the mechanism to the front of the gun along a machined out track allowing for a greater length of spear to protude from the gun. This allows for more accuracy from a longer gun without the spear sagging or wobbling.

There are 3 main lengths of spearguns that are the most popular the 1100mm, 1300mm and the 1400mm.

When I give the length of my guns I am measuring from the front of the woodwork to the front of the mechanism ie, where the shaft fits in.

International enquiries welcome!
